WSPOS at the 7th Brazilian Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus

The 7th Brazilian Congress of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus took place in São Paulo on November 15th and 16th, 2024.

This year’s event featured a special half-day WSPOS programme comprising two sessions and two roundtables, bringing together leading experts from around the world to discuss the latest advancements in paediatric ophthalmology.

🔹 Dr David Granet (WSPOS) co-moderated a session with Dr Dayane Issaho (CBE), featuring distinguished speakers Dr Talita Cunha (USA), Dr Yair Morad (Israel), Dr José Fernando Pérez (Mexico), and Dr Mauro Goldchimit (Brazil). This session was followed by a roundtable discussion on “Collaborative Vision: Convergent Views.”

🔹 Dr Ken Nischal (WSPOS) co-moderated a session with Dr Julia Dutra Rossetto (SBOP), where Dr Eduardo Silva (Portugal), Dr Andrea Zin (Brazil), Dr Cristián Alarcon (Chile), Dr Gustavo Salomão (Brazil), and Dr Rita Gama joined the panel. This was followed by a roundtable discussion on “Collaborative Vision: Adding Perspectives.”

Key topics covered during the afternoon included complex strabismus, congenital cataract surgical techniques, ocular involvement in genetic diseases, dyslexia, and Graves’ disease. These discussions provided a valuable platform for sharing insights, exchanging knowledge, and fostering global collaboration.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, make new paediatric ophthalmology friends, and witness the innovative work being done in Brazil and beyond
