Faculty Policy
WSPOS would like to clarify that, with the exception of our keynote speakers, all faculty, including invited speakers, moderators, and presenters of papers, posters, and videos are required to pay the designated registration fee for all world congresses and paediatric subspecialty day programmes organised by WSPOS. This policy follows the standard practice of other major ophthalmology meetings such as the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Given that WSPOS operates without a membership dues model, the income generated from our world congresses and subspecialty day programmes is essential to supporting the society’s charitable mission. These funds help provide educational grants, research fellowships, travel scholarships, and ensure the continued delivery of our educational programmes.
With approximately 300 faculty at each world congress and close to 40 at each subspecialty day programme, waiving registration fees would cause a significant loss of revenue that directly impacts WSPOS’s ability to continue delivering these programmes.
We are sincerely grateful for the generosity, expertise, and dedication of every speaker. Your contributions are central to the academic excellence and collegial atmosphere that define our meetings and the WSPOS community.
We hope you will continue to support and participate in our future world congresses and subspecialty day programmes.
Thank you for your understanding and continued involvement.
